“Day Off Work” is the sixth episode of Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy In Space, preceded by Little Fingers, and followed by Snow and Violets.
Overview[]
PuppyCat causes some chaos in his quest to retrieve a microwaved egg.
Synopsis[]
PuppyCat wakes up early in the morning, before sunrise, and realizes that Bee is gone. He gets anxious and decides to make a tracking device for her. Bee, meanwhile is at the convenience store. She intends to buy just a microwave egg pack for PuppyCat, but Narb talks her into buying more items, including some red candy. As she walks out of the store, Bee stops to look at the ocean, which is sparkling with energy from her sunken machine parts. Back at the apartment, PuppyCat is testing out his new tracking device on a cricket who hopped inside through the open window. The cricket jumps out of reach, and when he knocks it back down, PuppyCat accidentally swallows it. Bee then returns home, and when she correctly guesses that her absence scared PuppyCat, he becomes indignant and knocks the egg pouch out of her hand before learning what it is. It flies behind the couch, and he dives under it to retrieve the egg, but gets stuck.
Cas's alarm clock wakes her up and informs her that it's her day off. She excitedly runs to the bathroom to put on all of the face masks she's been hoarding.
As dawn breaks, Bee goes to water the plants outside of her apartment building, and finds a trash bag full of Violet's tears with a note that says, "Please use." She puts one of the tears in her watering can, and it makes the plants mutate in strange ways.
PuppyCat finally gets himself out from under the couch, instead getting trapped between it and the wall that his egg is stuck to. In his attempt to make the egg fall, he punches a hole in the wall, and makes it bigger to escape. He finds himself in Violet's apartment. He goes to use the nearby staircase, but falls through a hole instead, and the egg flies out of his mouth. He ends up inside of a vertical vent, and in yet another attempt to retrieve his precious egg, he inadvertently connects two pipes together. The water drains from Bee's toilet, colored red from the candy that was in with the groceries she dumped in there. The egg falls down the vent, and PuppyCat lets himself fall after it.
Cas finishes applying her dozens of face masks and emerges from the bathroom, scaring both Crispin and Toast. Toast runs to Merlin for comfort, upset because she lost another fight. She asks him to help her perform a demonic ritual to increase her strength. Her "ritual" involves taking a bunch of food out of the fridge and burning it. Whilst doing this, Cas's energy drinks fly around the room, and one of them turns on the sink. The red water makes Toast believe her ritual is working.
PuppyCat lands in Violet's basement, where he discovers a bunch of stuff from her ship is being stored, including his beloved piloting chair. He also finds a ray gun which teleports the user two wherever it's aimed, even through walls. He ends up back in the vents, and accidentally steps on a dead mouse. Believing that he's killed it, PuppyCat begins administering forceful CPR by smacking the mouse with his newfound portal gun. Having located PuppyCat with the tracking device he made, Bee enters the Wizard's apartment and punches a hole in the wall to free him. PuppyCat's CPR turns out to be successful, as he revives the mouse. It then eats The Bad Cheese, and informs PuppyCat that it will soon die again from another heart attack. He tries to catch the mouse so he can save its life again. Shenanigans ensue.
