“Two Clown Noses” is the twelfth episode of Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy In Space, preceded by Bird Friend, and followed by Golden Eyes.

Overview

Cas and the family throw a surprise birthday party for Crispin, who’s been through a lot. Later, he goes on an out-of-this-world date with Bee.

Synopsis

The episode opens with Bee and PuppyCat doing temp work on Clown Planet, with PuppyCat being sick. PuppyCat says that "Maybe [he] caught a cold" and Bee suggests they do this work tomorrow, before remarking that she knows "someone" who would enjoy this place a lot because of the clown imagery.

We cut to Cass explaining to the Wizard family and Toast the story behind Crispin’s birthday: Crispin woke up on his twelfth birthday, expecting someone in his family to celebrate. However, as the day went on, it became clear that no one remembered that it was Crispin's birthday. As a result, Crispin packed his bags and ran away to live in the circus for the next 10 years. Cass explains to Toast that this is why they need to celebrate Crispin's birthday.

Crispin is seen at his garage, fixing a clown car. Suddenly, his watch goes off mid sentence, alerting to him that it's his birthday. Crispin goes home, and sees through the window that everyone is busy setting up his party. Crispin takes a bat from his truck and begins smashing up the decorations. The family emerges to surprise Crispin, only for him to begin swinging in their direction. Crispin ends up smashing the cake and enters his room, visibly frustrated by his family's attempts to celebrate his birthday.

Crispin reminisces about his time in the circus, only for Bee and PuppyCat to return from their temp job, directly into Crispin’s room. Bee rushes to Crispin, telling him about a place she'd like to take him. Bee then comes closer to Crispin to wipe smashed cake off of his face, making him visibly flustered. Bee excitedly tells Crispin about Clown Planet, and how she'd like to take him there. Crispin then mentions how this would be a date, and despite initially feeling awkward about the suggestion, Bee says that she'd be ok with that, as they've "done it before, and it was fun". After discussing pick up time, Bee and Puppycat exit.

Crispin then lays on his bed, looking through his phone. We cut to flashback of when Crispin moved out of Bee's home, presumably after the two dated. Crispin expresses that he's upset that Bee doesn't seem sad at his moving out. Bee then illuminates her robotic inside, showing Crispin the parts that seem to control her emotions. She explains that "...a part of me is [sad]. All the other parts are confused though." Crispin screams in frustration, and Bee pokes the top of his mouth. Crispin says that it tickles, and Bee explains that "...everyone's ticklish on the tops of their mouth insides. Everybody, except me." We cut back to Crispin looking through photos from when he dated Bee.

That morning, Bee picks Crispin up for their date. Crispin asks if bringing pets on a date is usual (referring to Puppycat). Bee dismisses the notion, presenting Crispin a collection of the flowers created by Cardamon's Mother's tears. After causing the flowers to burst onto Crispin, Bee helps him as he chokes on the petals. Crispin then asks if Puppycat should be out, as he's sick. Puppycat responds by saying that, "I don't like being alone when I'm sick." but, "Being around other people helps spread the virus." Bee dismisses this, and they continue on to the date. Bee presents Crispin with two clown noses, using them to plug his ears. Bee blindfolds him using an inflated balloon, and they ride on her bike to the peak. From here, Puppycat summons a temp letter, and they head to temp space.

Temp-Bot is surprised to see Bee, but says that there might be an assignment for her to do. Bee tells Temp-Bot that she left the assignment on Clown Planet unfinished, and needs to return. Temp-Bot says that it's a strange request, but gets distracted by Crispin, asking who he is. Bee excuses him as "an extra pair of hands", and Temp-Bot allows him to join her, noting that she "[does] like his face." (the smile on the balloon used to blindfold Crispin). After assigning them their uniforms, Temp-Bot sends them to Clown Planet.

After removing the blindfold, Crispin is excited by the clown imagery. While initially confused as to where they are and how his clothes changed, he accepts what's happening. A montage plays showing Bee and Crispin navigating the confusing landscape of the planet, and Crispin continues to enjoy the clown aesthetic around them. They then find Puppycat surrounded by small creatures, and Bee asks Crispin if she could do one small work thing. She and Crispin begin blowing up balloons and trapping the creatures inside. While doing this, Bee asks Crispin about the surprise party the previous day. Crispin says that this is better than the surprise party, as Bee brought Crispin here because she knew he'd like it, and he felt that his family only threw him the party because they felt obligated to. Puppycat, distressed, rushes to get out of clown planet, sliding down a slide that takes them back to the planet's surface. Balloons begin erupting from Clown Planet's head forming a giant balloon poodle. The three of them rush through Temp-Bot's mouth, exiting Clown Planet.

They take Puppycat back to Bee's home, and they treat him for his illness. Crispin gets him a towel, and Bee offers him some food from her toilet. Crispin fishes out a can of soup, cooks it, and Bee gives Puppycat a few drops via an eyedropper. Bee offers for Crispin to stay at her house and watch tv, and they both fall asleep on her couch. That morning, Crispin is gone and Bee finds Puppycat rummaging through their food, cured of his illness.

Crispin is back at home, setting the table. Cass finds him, and he expresses that he doesn't want them to feel obligated to celebrate his birthday because he ran away. He feels remorseful for abandoning them, and wants them to spend time with him because they want to, not because they feel like they have to. Cass says that it was both.
